FIFA Ranking: November 2009 top 50

Explanation:

This is the how the November 2009 FIFA ranking would look like if

  • No more matches would be played from July 13th to November 11th.
  • The 5-matches rule wouldn't be applied
This post was basically published to help those interested in the 2010 FIFA World Cup seeding. As many of you know, the November 2009 is the last piece of the formula.

  2. Hi Edgar,

    Thanks for your table.
I have checked the last column for Russia and Ukraine.
For Russia I have the same figures 2002.5 in 3 (1.0 frame) games.
But for Ukraine I couldn't receive 2403 points as it is stated in your table.

Since 19th of November 2008 Ukraine played 6 games with:

    Norway(R54)-438 points
    Slovakia (44)-468
    11.02.09 Serbia (35)-495
    England -0
    Croatia (8)-480
    Kazakhstan (132)-510
    =============
Total:2391 points instead of yours 2403

I used FIFA raiting published at least one day before the played game as valid.
There was one question: the game with Serbia which was on February,11th and February FIFA Rating was published exactly on Feb,11th. I took Jan Rating (Serbia-35) Should i take Feb Rating in this case? (Serbia-33).
But even in this case the total amount will be 2397 not 2403.
For two June 2009 games with Croatia and Kazakhstan (06.06 and 10.06) I used June 2009 FIFA R published on June 3rd.

    Where is a mistake?

  3. Hi Osiris!

The deadline for matches is more or less 6 days before the publishing date. It can be 3 days in some cases, but it can get no lower than that. This means you have to use the February ranking for both Slovakia and Serbia. That's your mistake.

  4. Hi Edgar!

Could you explain me this post and this ranking short... Is the ranking going to look like this in November? How could for example Bosnia-Herzegovina climb to 22nd place? What if they lose all their matches in August and September?

    Thnx :)

  5. If Bosnia-Herzegovina lose their last 5 remaining matches, they will end up with 549 points. In the August 2009 probable ranking, this is good for 59th place.

I've also added a short explanation of this ranking.
