EURO 2012: Official interim national team ranking out
UEFA has published an interim national team coefficient ranking. The coefficients are relevant for the pot allocation to be used during the UEFA EURO 2012™ qualifying draw that will take place in Warsaw on 7 February 2010.
I have some doubts about the final coefficients. First of all, play-offs matches are theoretically to consider as a part of the qualifying phase, and so we have to take them into account for the euro 2012 coefficient. But I think it's unfair that second-placed teams that win play-offs match can overcome (thanks to bonus points) teams that are already qualified (and that winned their group!). Another point of question for me is the possible flaw for matches won after PSO in two-legged play-offs, that we have discussed about the fifa ranking too. Will Uefa repeat the same error or not?
Of course, it's unfair - but going through the play-offs is a risk so perhaps they deserve to overcame the group winners. UEFA doesn't answer e-mails, so I can't ask them :)
Thanks for posting this, I hadn't seen it yet. Looks they agree perfectly with my numbers, or is it the other way around? ;-)
