  1. Hi Edgar,

I don't understand the calculation of the coefficients for the UEFA-countries that participated in the first legs of the WC-qualification play-offs last saturday.
I maybe mistaken but didn't these play-offs yield a bonus of 6.000 pts in the calculation of the coefficients for the EURO 2012 draw ?

France had a coefficient of 32231 before the game of last saturday. They earned 46501 points. You should at least expect the current coefficient to be higher than 32231 pts.
I calculated a coefficient of 32778 instead of 32218. Even if I disregard the bonus points (France then earned 40501 pts) I calculate for France a coefficient of 32560 and not 32218.
What's the reason for these differences ?

Best regards and keep up the good work with this very interesting and insightfull site.

    WC2006 - 640023 points from 17 games
    EC2008 - 454526 points from 15 games
    WC2010 - 361019 points from 11 games

    Final coefficient: 32778.34.

That's the way both of you made the calculations.

However, for all teams still in the play-offs, I've added 16000 points to the 2010 total and 1 game to the 2010 games. Thus, for 2010 France have 377019 and 12 games and a final coefficient of 32217.68.
