Hi!
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see Serbia as 13th ranked nation again. Finally we are in front of Swizerland and USA (both "pushed" by FIFA and Blatter). Now, it's Greece, Russia and Croatia left - Serbia is much better than all above!
Could you just explain me why Serbia get so many points for next month?
And of course your comment about the Euro 2012-qualifiers, and the group between France and Romania, once again!
Are you going to write something about the draw in here?
Regards
Serbian
Switzerland and USA are not pushed (ranking-wise) by FIFA or Blatter.
ReplyDeleteThe friendly win against Tunisia (March 3rd, 2006) will go out of the system - you lose 1.63 points.
The friendly draw against Macedonia (February 6th, 2008) will lose value (from 50% to 30%) - you lose 8.64 points.
The February 2009 Cyrus tournament results (win vs. Cyprus, loss vs. Ukraine) lose value (from 100% to 50%) - you lose 5.71 points.
However, with the Cyprus results losing value, the last time frame average (i.e. results in the last 12 months) rises by 79.37 points.
Adding it up: -1.63 - 8.64 - 5.71 + 79.37 = 63.39. Due to rounding, you gain 64 points.
About the draw. Well... I don't expect much from Romania these days. Last time we finished 5th so anything higher would be a bonus :)
Hi Edgar,
ReplyDeleteJust wanna say that you are doing a great job. I enjoy visiting your site, 'cause your site can tell me the ranking way before FIFA(mafia)'s official site.
Good luck to Romania from a serbian. I hope that you will beat the corrupt frenchmen and the overrated bosnian-hercegovinians.
Regards
CCCC
edgar , do you mean a boner:D
ReplyDeleteyeah, we are weak
probably we`re gonna finish 3`rd of worse
Hi Edgar
ReplyDeleteYour site rocks it has alot of important information , thanks for the effort and keep going man
I just wonder why do African teams always loose alot of ranking in feb. after gaining alot in jan. thats question I really hope to get your reply about cause i never knew why !?
I will reply to Academicloody
ReplyDeleteAfrican teams loose points in February as a result of african cup of nations. As Fifa ranking accounts for results in the last four years. In February 2010, results from the COCAn 2006 are not accounted anymore and the coefficient for the COCAN 2008 get reduced from 0.50 to 0.30. All this can affect the ranking. The same happens for UEFA members in June and July.
There is an important drawback for the Fifa pointing system. If we have three teams having the same Fifa ranking before this competition, they ranking can change dramatically. Assume that the three teams get 4 points in the first round (they can be in the same or in different groups), but two of them qualify to the 1/4 finals but one is eliminated.
On eof the two qualified teams is eliminated in 1/4 of finals but the other qualifies to the 1/2 final but loose in sem-final and loose the game for the 3rd place also.
If we summarize:
Team 1 has 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat.
team 2 has 1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats.
Team 3 has 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats.
At the end, we can be surprised by finding Team 1 in a better Fifa position than team 2 which appears also before Team 3 in depiste of reaching the semi-finals.
I think that Fifa should include some bonus points for teams reaching advanced stages in continental and world cup competition.
A team ranked 4th should always get more points than a team eliminated in the 1/4 finals or in the first round.
Academicloody, Brahim gave you a very good explanation.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brahim!
