CAF Olympic draw - why such haste?

CAF used the March ranking to seed the teams, although they scheduled the draw on April 13, when FIFA published the April ranking.

Pot 1: Côte d’Ivoire/Liberia, Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Algeria, Gabon, Morocco
Pot 2: Senegal, Benin, Mali, Zambia, Sudan, Congo, Tanzania, Congo DR
Result of the draw:

Algeria v Zambia
Morocco v RD Congo
Congo v win Cote d’Ivoire/Liberia
Gabon v Mali
Sudan v Egypt
Benin v South Africa
Tunisia v Senegal
Tanzania v Nigeria

Had CAF used the April ranking, Senegal would have been seeded at the expense of Morocco.
