FIFA Ranking: September 2012 preview

Next update: 17 August 2012.

FIFA will publish the ranking on 5 September 2012.

Four teams will improve their best ever ranking:

Mali will be at least 34th (previous best 35th - February 2007).
Central African Republic will be at least 68th (previous best 71 - August 2012).
Dominican Republic will be at least 105th (previous best 116 - May 1996).
American Samoa will be at least 174th (previous best 182 - August 2012).



Mauritania will drop to at least 204th - thus equaling their worst ever ranking - first happened in December 2011.

Three teams will drop to new lows:

Indonesia will drop to at least 167th (previous worst ranking 159 - August 2012).
Swaziland will drop to at least 190th (previous worst ranking 182 - July 2012).
Kyrgyzstan will drop to at least 197th (previous worst ranking 196 - July 2012).

Most points dropped (best case scenario):

-58 - Finland and Lithuania
-50 - Hungary
-48 - Belize
-36 - Northern Ireland
-32 - Cameroon
-29 - Vanuatu
-27 - Norway
-26 - Honduras and South Africa

Most points gained (worst case scenario):

68 - Tahiti
61 - New Caledonia
60 - Mali
52 - Bermuda
49 - Cape Verde Islands
48 - Dominican Republic
41 - Algeria
38 - Congo
37 - Korea DPR
31 - Chile, Panama and Samoa
