FIFA will publish the ranking on 9 May 2013.
Only 9 matches will affect the May ranking, two of them have already been played. Six of those still to be played will be part of the Windward Islands Tournament. The other one will involve Brazil and Chile.
This is how the points and ranks could change for these teams:
Team - Minimum Points - Maximum Points - Worst Ranking - Best Ranking
Brazil | 892 | 923 | 21 | 18 |
Chile | 832 | 878 | 24 | 22 |
St. Vincent and the Grenadines | 223 | 261 | 135 | 123 |
Grenada | 207 | 302 | 142 | 117 |
St. Lucia | 145 | 228 | 160 | 132 |
Dominica | 113 | 195 | 170 | 145 |
In the table below, I've used the lowest values possible for these teams, thus their totals won't drop.
Best movers:
12 - Senegal
6 - South Africa
5 - Albania
Worst movers:
-6 - Mongolia
-5 - Georgia
-2 - Mexico, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Myanmar and Sri Lanka
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Myanmar could fall even lower depending on the Windward Islands Tournament results.
Best movers in the top 50:
5 - Albania
3 - Nigeria
2 - Honduras
Worst movers in the top 50:
-2 - Mexico
-1 - USA, Japan, Norway, Paraguay, Zambia, Australia and Costa Rica
Two teams will improve their best ever ranking:
Belgium (15 - 16 in January 2003)
Albania (43 - 48 in April 2013)
Brazil could fall to 21st (new worst ever ranking) if they lose to Chile.
Singapore could fall to 166th (new worst ever ranking) if Dominica perform well at the Windward Islands Tournament.

Hi Egdar.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview. It seems quite in May, no real changes. Calm weather before the storm in June with decisive games in World Cup qualifiers and Conferederations Cup.
Just flip best and worst rankings in your table for the teams with remaining games. Best ranking should be a lower position than worst ranking.
Thanks Brahim - fixed now.
DeleteJune rankings will be released on June 6 so FIFA world ranking for June will not include many June matches.
DeleteAT THE TOP, BEST RANKING IS BEFORE WORST RANKING BUT THE TABLE SHOWS OPPOSITE
ReplyDeleteDominica has withdrawn from the Windward Islands tournament.
ReplyDeleteThat was due to their manager and a player dying in a car wreck.
