2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying draw seeding for CAF (1 November 2013)

Assumptions:

- CAF will keep the current qualifying system
- FIFA will use the FIFA ranking to seed the teams
- CAF will choose the July 2015 ranking for seeding


The July 2015 FIFA ranking will include matches played between July 2011 and July 2015. This means we're currently in the 0.5 time frame and things will start to get interesting.

This the July 2015 ranking (for CAF only) using matches played up to and including October 31st, 2013 and matches scheduled up to July 2014 (only those on fifa.com).

The "0.5" part is computed this way: points gained / (number of matches played + scheduled).

Changes since the last update:

Egypt and Libya replace Cape Verde Islands and Zambia in pot 1 of the second round.
Senegal and Angola replace Congo DR and Uganda in pot 2 of the second round.
Niger and Zimbabwe replace Equatorial Guinea and Central African Republic in pot 3 of the second round.
Mauritania and Lesotho replace Sudan and Sao Tome e Principe in pot 1 of the first round.

First round

Pot 1: Botswana, Kenya, Benin, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Namibia, Rwanda, Liberia, Mauritania, Burundi, Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania
Pot 2: Gambia, Sudan, Sao Tome e Principe, Chad, Mauritius, Swaziland, Madagascar, Seychelles, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Somalia, Comoros, Djibouti, South Sudan

Second round (group stage)

Pot 1: Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Mali, Libya
Pot 2: Togo, Cape Verde Islands, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Zambia, South Africa, Angola, Morocco, Gabon
Pot 3: Congo DR, Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, Niger, Zimbabwe

Pot 3 and Pot 4 will be completed with the 14 winners of the first round.
