  1. Hi Edgar,

Where do you get your information about the fixtures these days? I used to get it from the FIFA-matchcenter website, but they made it far too complicated to extract the games easily. Any suggestions?

    1. I took the time and wrote a special parser for the new match center.

  2. Dear Mr. Edgar

This Fifa list has always been a mystery to me.
Can you inform me why Iceland (ranked 23) loses 12 points despite their 1-0 away win over Netherland (ranked 12)?

    1. That's because despite the win over Holland, they lose the win against Turkey (Sep 9, 2014) in the first timeframe. And in addition the draw against Kazachstan drags the average of the first timeframe down. If they had won that game, they would have gained 12 points on the ranking and 1 place.

  3. Edgar, according to FIFA match center and other reports Botswana is playing Ethiopia on the 30th of September. how will this affect the two's rankings?

  4. Botswana-Ethiopia friendly counts for November ranking as the deadline for the October ranking is September 28th.

  5. France at 22. The rankings have to be taken with a huge grain of salt for this alone. FIFA needs to come up with a way so that upcoming hosts can be judged more accurately.

  6. FIFA is still messing up the rounding of their points calculation for the ranking. In the October edition not only the rounding of exactly a half is sometimes up and sometimes down (what's so difficult on doing that consistently up or down ?), but now they also made a more serious mistake. Fiji has 59.5 points rounded up (this time) to 60, but what's worse: their position is set at 189 where it should be equal to Tahiti (also with 60 points) on 188. I don't think Fiji plays a match coming month, so it does not have any consequences in terms of calculated matchpoints this time, but I think it's a bit 'disturbing' (or plain stupid) that they can't even produce their own ranking correctly.
