AFC MA Ranking update (3 March 2017)

Weighting for the FIFA ranking part of the formula dropped from 30% to 10%. The MA ranking at the end of the club season (November 2017) will be used to determine the slot allocations for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

FIFA ranking points computed for November 2017, considering scheduled matches as defeats.

China climb from 3rd to 2nd and take a direct spot from Japan. Will Japanese clubs (and the NT to a lesser extent) be able to fight their way back?

AFC Cup: Indonesia's return will mean bad news for Laos, Philippines and Singapore.

Without Indonesia:

Philippines and Singapore: 2+0, Laos: 1+1

With Indonesia:

Indonesia would get 2+0, Philippines and Singapore 1+1, Laos 0+1.

  1. Hi, I don't know how UAE got 9.4(2.35 per each) points for 2017. i thought 4 teams of UAE earned 7(2 wins 1 draw 5 loses - group stage) and 0.6(0.3+0.3 - play off) so far.

    2. I think there are 0.6 points per team which gets direct GS spot so UAE got 1.8 more bonus points

    3. South Korea also got 3 direct GS spots but they earned only 1.35 more points.. i think difference between UAE and SK is that Al-Wahda of UAE won within 90 mins and Ulsan of SK didn't, but this can't explain how Qatar and Uzbekistan got additional 0.9 and 1.05 points respectively.

    4. yeah I see, that's a ridiculous ranking from AFC, still don't know how they calculated the points. there are so many different ways to calculate for a certain MA

    5. UAE got 0.6 (0.3 + 0.3)
Korea got 0.3 (entry) + 0.15 (PSO win).
      Qatar got 0.6 (2 entries) + 0.3 (that is 0.15 * 2 for the 2 PSO losses).
      Uzbekistan got 0.6 (2 entries) + 0.3 (Nasaf's win in R2) + 0.15 (Bunyodkor's PSO win).

  2. Thanks for the reply.

But I already included the points you wrote above.
    what I mean is UAE still needs 1.8 points(9.4 - 7.6)

based on points from afc(12th of march)
    UAE got 2.35(2.35 x 4teams = 9.4)
    PO Round: 0.6(Al Wahda - 0.3+0.3)
    GS :7(2W 1D 5L)
    ----------------------------------
    TOTAL:7.6 points

    1. It's like this: GS points / No. of teams + Bonus points. So it's 7 / 4 + 0.6 = 1.75 + 0.6 = 2.35

    1. Not quite Bassil. Only if Iraqi teams get the ACL license and Kuwait remains suspended. Palestine still trail Oman by 3.258 points (all from the club competition). They are equal of NT points.
