i wonder which effect on fifa ranking it will have, that uefa teams are almost not playing friendlies anymore in the future
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the match weighting assigned to the UNL games.
Deletedoes the simulation provide %s for competing in League A, B, C and D for each nation - for example Sweden ??
ReplyDeleteThis post doesn't feature sims, but I might do that in the next update.
DeleteDoes anyone know how the ranking to replace already qualified teams for Euro 2020 play offs will work?
ReplyDeleteSay 11 of the league A teams are already qualified. Then how do you pick team 2, 3 and 4 for the league A Euro 2020 play offs? It says highest available ranked teams, but how are they ranked? Is it decided by the point total in their respective division or does position in group trump total points?
Also, will the regular UEFA ranking now be abolished?
The flimsy info UEFA has given sofar about this subject:
DeleteIf any winners are already qualified through the European Qualifiers, then their play-off position will be allocated to the next best ranked team of the division in question, taking into account the global ranking within the division, then if necessary to the following division in decreasing order taking into consideration the global ranking of the relevant division.
And also:
The overall UEFA Nations League rankings will determine the composition of the draw pots for the subsequent European Qualifiers.
Thanks Ed!
DeleteThanks. Flimsy is the right word. It doesn't really say much. And what is the "global ranking within the division"? Global ranking as opposed to... ranking?
DeleteI think they mean one ranking of all the teams over the 4 groups in each division, sorted on points, goal difference, goals scored and goals conceded. Maybe as opposed to a ranking where the 4 groupnumbers one are sorted first on points/GD/GF/GA, then the four groupnumbers two on points/GD/GF/GA, then the four groupnumbers three on points/GD/GF/GA etc.
ReplyDeleteBut here I'm guessing already.
