I'm very sorry to let you know that Ed Jägers died unexpectedly on the 19th of august 2024. Therefore there won't be anymore football blogs. If anyone wants to take over, please contact margot.lagendijk@gmail.com.
About me:
Software engineer, happily unmarried and non-religious. You won't find me on Twitter or other so called social media. Dutchman, joined the blog in March 2018.
Rip Ed. I’ve always looked forward to the info provided on this page.
ReplyDeleteRIP. I'm so sad.
ReplyDeleteEveryone, while there may be candidates to take over the site, I think it might also be an idea to make it a site where multiple people would be able to post, to keep this site alive in that way. I myself work out each FIFA ranking each month and compare it to what FIFA comes up with, including yesterday, but I feel it would be too much to take it over myself completely, and I myself have my own software. Perhaps there are others who see this as a joint project that we could work together on? While Ed and I didn't always see eye to eye, we had a lot in common, both being Dutch, both doing a lot with international football statistics as a hobby, and both being software engineers. I also had many a conversation with the previous blogger Eduard (?). I'd also be willing to work on software as I myself have the whole FIFA ranking calculation automated based on my own archive. Anyway, feel free to let me know your comments.

Thank you, I think you have a good idea. So who could join Homer?
DeleteHomer- I'd love to help if you're interested. Ed helped me with a lot of info that got my blog off the ground, and I learned a lot about forecasting from him, and I do a lot of modeling now. I think I could publish similar models in the spirit that Ed did. Margot, if you read this, I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Thoughts from Alabama
DeleteYes, I'm reading the blog, so thank you all for all the kind words. It would be great if his work could carry on. So if you contact me in the gmail account, ill be in touch.
Deletethanks from Margot
I'm so sorry to hear that. I could also help. I don't speak Nederlands, just English like a typical little Englander.

Heel erg gecondoleerd met het verlies. Ik heb genoten van deze website en zijn diensten. Ik hoop dat iemand het over kan nemen en zijn werk in leven kan houden. Ina lilahi wa ina ilahi raji3oun
ReplyDeleteWe’ll do our best, in progress. Give it a few weeks.

ReplyDeleteRIP Ed. I have been following this blog since when Edgar was there..then came Ed with whom I shared one of idea to compare the individual goals per match idea with a coefficient. He responded well and also made a post for that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed for your great contributions which have brought joy to myself and many other fans of international football, RIP
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. This was the place where first so comprehensive simulations of qualifiers and finals of great world football competitions were published. I have really appreciated Ed's work.
